Solocator - GPS Field Camera 2.20

Solocator is a GPS camera application that is specifically designed for fieldwork and capturing photos for proof purposes. It allows users to overlay and stamp their photos with essential information such as location, direction, altitude, date, and time taken. With the Industry Pack add-on, users can also capture field notes including project name, photo description, company name, or username.

Customization options allow users to tailor the overlay information according to their specific needs. Users can select the information they want to capture and display on their photos, including GPS position (in various formats) with accuracy, UTM/MGRS coordinate formats (Industry Pack), compass direction, altitude (metric and imperial units), tilt and roll angles, crosshair, local date and time based on GPS location, local time zone, UTC time, compass display, street address (Industry Pack), and cardinal directions in Building mode.

The camera functionality in Solocator supports both the back and front selfie cameras. It offers features such as ultra-wide angle support, pre-set zoom buttons within pinch zoom functionality, self-timer, flash control, and exposure adjustments.

Photos taken with Solocator can be automatically saved to both iCloud and the device's camera roll simultaneously. The app allows users to take two photos at once - one stamped with the selected overlays and the other as an original high-resolution photo.

The app provides various tools for organizing and managing photos. Users can sort photos by time, location, distance from their current location, and project name (if using the Industry Pack). They can view photo direction and location on a map and navigate to the desired destination. Photos can be shared individually or as a zip file through the share sheet. The search feature enables users to search for photos based on date or date range, and with the Industry Pack, they can also search by text used in notes and addresses. Users can also email photos with detailed information such as Exif metadata, compass direction, GPS position with accuracy, altitude, tilt and roll angles, date and time taken, street address (Industry Pack), elevation of building face viewed, and links to maps for easy navigation.

The Industry Pack add-on is available as an in-app purchase with a one-time charge. It offers additional features such as editable notes overlay where users can stamp their photos with project name, description, and watermark (typically used for company or username). Users can define the photo export filename using fields like project name, description, watermark, street address, date/time, number, and custom text. Batch editing of notes overlay fields is also supported, allowing users to select multiple photos and edit project name, description, and watermark fields simultaneously. The add-on also enables users to add street address to the overlay or use UTM/MGRS coordinate formats instead of latitude/longitude. Autosave or export photos to cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive (Personal & For Business) is possible, including SharePoint Sites and Teams. Users have options to autosave photos in date or project name subfolders or select and export photos at a later time. Additionally, Solocator supports exporting photo data and notes in KML, KMZ, and CSV formats via email or file export. The app also provides a map view feature where users can track photos by direction, distance between photos, area of photos taken, and distance from added markers through KML files or dropped pins. For precise GPS location accuracy, Solocator offers the ability to refine and lock GPS location, making it highly useful for working in or around buildings or when users want to lock the position of the asset they are photographing. The compact view option allows users to switch off compass, building, and street modes, making the GPS info bar the only element displayed on top of photos, providing a more compact view.
